Below is just a little bit more about the partnership and the products in the gift basket.
About the partnership
One mile south of AT&T Park, lies San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood. Although you won’t find it in tourist guides, it is one of San Francisco’s most fascinating neighborhoods. Dogpatch is a neighborhood of makers: chocolatiers, breweries, wineries, and numerable accessory, furniture and home good manufacturers. McRoskey is proud to be part of a community that is manufacturing in America, in San Francisco.
15 years ago, hobbyist brewer and lawyer John Fones met his future wife Katie, and she introduced him to California wines. After a wine cruise in Italy in 2007, John was “bitten by the bug” and decided to learn everything he could about winemaking. He began with a brief harvest internship at Freeman Winery in Sebastopol, California. Those two weeks were filled with 16 hour days of intensely physical, hard work. Reluctant to return home to his law practice in Baltimore, he immediately began planning for a return. The following two years were a whirlwind of interning and starting to make his first wines. Several years later, with slightly over 1,000 cases produced annually, Cellars 33 focuses on premium vineyard sites for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and whatever else Katie lets John make.
2014 Bacigalupi Vineyard Zinfandel Russian River Valley
A textured, spicy and balanced Russian River 'Old Vine' Zinfandel. Sourced from a one-acre parcel of the famed Bacigalupi Vineyard, these head pruned old vines date back prior to 1950 with an estimated age of 90-100 years. Notoriously difficult to farm, this heritage vineyard site is a treasure.
2013 Gloria Vineyard Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
Our second vintage from the estate vineyard at Freeman Winery in Sebastopol, the 2013 Gloria Vineyard Pinot Noir consists of four clones: Pommard, 115, Calera and Martini. With a southeast orientation, this steeply inclined vineyard enjoys the cooling winds coming off the Pacific and is ideally suited for Pinot Noir.
2016 ‘The Betty’ Lodi
Our second vintage of ‘The Betty’ represents a blend of three Rhone white wine varieties. The clean, crispness of Grenache Blanc is accentuated with the pleasing aromatic Viognier and a splash of acidity from the Picpoul. The blend of grapes sourced from organically farmed Terra Alta and Clay Station vineyards, results in a showcase white wine from the emerging Lodi region.
Poco Dolce Confections was started by Kathy Wiley in 2003 as a small San Francisco bakery specializing in regional Italian pastries. Within a year, she discovered a passion for creating hand-made chocolates with unique and exciting flavors. Having a predilection for more savory foods, Kathy experimented by finishing a piece of bittersweet chocolate with a sprinkling of Grey Sea Salt (also known as Sel Gris). Poco Dolce's Bittersweet Chocolate Tiles were born.
The name - Poco Dolce - literally translates from Italian as "not too sweet" or "just a little sweet." Applying this idea to their products, Poco Dolce's ongoing mission is to stay on the "savory side of sweet."
Simple, Fresh, All-Natural Ingredients
Run by a ten person team for most of the year, the utmost attention and care is put into crafting each and every product. Created in small batches in their San Francisco kitchen, Poco Dolce's gourmet chocolates and confections feature only the finest, all-natural ingredients - from local almonds and pumpkin seeds to grey sea salt harvested from the coast of Brittany.
Environmentally and Socially Conscious Chocolate
Poco Dolce always uses multiple blends of GMO-Free chocolate from Guittard Chocolate Company. Located just 15 miles south of San Francisco in Burlingame, California, Guittard makes it a point to work directly with their farmers, cutting out the middle men, and using cacao beans that are Rainforest Alliance certified and Fair Trade certified.

In the late 1800’s, the McRoskey brothers, Edward and Leonard, moved from Chicago to San Francisco to sell mattress manufacturing equipment. They established the McRoskey Mattress Company in 1899. In 1925, Edward built a new factory and showroom at 1687 Market Street where the company continues to operate today. In the late 1990’s, the company decided to expand the factory, and moved the factory from a four-story building on Market Street to a horizontal factory on Minnesota Street in San Francisco’s Dogpatch.
Today, lead by third-generation owner and president, Robin McRoskey Azevedo, the company proudly continues to craft quality luxury beds using time-honored techniques. McRoskey champions Bay Area manufacturing, and is a founding member of both SFMade and Bay Area Made.
