The majority of people sleep on
an old mattress longer than they
should, waiting until pain sets in
before making a change. What’s
more, because mass-market
mattresses are designed to break
down quickly, they look "new" for
far longer than they feel it.
Get ahead of your sleep health by answering these four questions:
Do you ever wake up with stiffness or aches and pains?
Have you ever had a better night’s sleep somewhere other than in your own bed?
Does your mattress sag, or have an exposed interior or have lumps?
Do you find your current mattress and box spring set uncomfortable?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then it’s time to replace your current mattress.
Try it. Lie down on the mattress for at least 15 minutes.
Relax. Let your body tell you what's comfortable - your needs may have changed since the last time you bought a mattress.
Firm isn't necessarily better. Choose a firmness that allows your body to relax quickly and naturally.
Size is an aspect of comfort. Be sure to choose a size that is large enough to allow for free, easy movement.
If two people share the bed, definitely try out the options together.
